As a follow on to my last photo, I've added an aluminium plate covered in Reflect-a-Cool where the exhaust passes under the steering column UJ. When exposed to high temperature, the grease in the UJ can dry out and the UJ will wear and fail. This happened with my MGBV8.
Today I also smartened up the manifold flange which was rusty......
