I have to say, I'm not at all sure the article in the November issue of Miscellany about 3 Wheel Drive is correct, even allowing for the fact that they are a commercial operation whose driving instructors include police instructors.
The bit that caught my interest was the statement, that "the wearing of a helmet removes the need to wear a seat belt, lack of a helmet requires a seat belt".
I know legally officialdom does not seem to know its bottom from its elbow, but this surprises me. I'd not rely on it unless very thoroughly checked out and would point out, some of the helmets in the earlier thread do not meet the standards for motorcycle use - which presumably, if this is correct, would need to be met.
Even if this is correct in the UK, even elsewhere in Europe could well be a different situation.
It's an interesting article in other ways too, the fact a lot of new drivers adopt the wrong road position with the drivers side front wheel too far over to the other side of the road due to the width. I've never felt the urge to mis-position the vintage one, which is of course, narrower. One does wonder though if that means a driver of a wrong hand drive car is prone to the same error. Eek!
