For regular road use the Toyo T1R is a leading tyre and most proven on the Aero as an after market swap.

The Toyo R1R was released about 18-24 months ago as a slightly more track oriented tyre - but not 1B listed (unlike the Yoko A048 or Toyo R888) so could take over this top spot?

The Yoko AD08 is also a recent addition to compete with the interim nature Toyo R1R. It is a great tyre and is used by the factory now on high performance models.

The Federal tyre suggestion was chucked in as MrTony is always interested in the left field option. The FZ-201 is essentially a cut slick which 'just' meets the E mark requirements for road legality an again it's a new addition to the market.

Depends on how quickly you want to go round bends..... Most cars are well 'over-tyre'd' in comparison I the driving style of the owner...

Hardened tyres 5 years old are probably worth changing on pure safety grounds - I once watched a +8 at the sprint taster day try to take part on old P6000's

He certainly perfected the technique of 'spin' and 'understeer' - it looked pretty scary tbh - very unpredictable - and that was in the dry!!
