If the seal is your sump gasket then the engine will have to be removed . The sump can not be removed by just those bolts that hold it onto the block . You will need the rad out and their is an engine eye at the rear just above the heater pipes ( could have your leads in it ) . MAY ? be another just above the inlet exhaust at the very front . If not you can buy one on the net or go to a scrap yard . Have a look at some photos first and ask others . Good luck .
i have an oil pump leak due to a failed seal on my 1.6 cvh 4/4. i've studied it for a while and access looks a bit tricky without a lift to get access underneath the car. i'm weighing up whether to bite the bullet and pay for it to be done in the garage.
but before i throw in the towel as i would much rather have the satisfaction of working on it myself can anyone give me any advice how i might go about it, do i need to remove the radiator for example?
