The first thing we were told at our pre-retirement course was to learn how to say no.
When you retire completely, 'the family' assume that you are available 24/7, and nobody is worse for that than 'mother', closely followed by 'wife'.
At the moment I'm half time, so can use the work excuse flexibly for not doing everything asked. I know that when I fully retire it will get harder to say no.
