That is more of a tray than a mudguard. As far as I am aware all cars came with it.
The problem is it allows lots of muck up at the rear end where the leather "hinge" is. Also on to seat belts.
Below it the whole compartment gets very manky.
I believe the trailer mudguard is effective, cheap and relatively simple to do, even for a simple soul like me!
