Try opening your picture in Paint and save as PNG that worked for me.

Peter, I've attached your photo below...it seems to load ok. 87kb in size, 600 x 449 and 96 ppi. I'm puzzled why you should have problems posting it although I've had similar and got round it by renaming the file and file extension.
PS. Nice feel to the photo...makes me wish for a bit of warmth!
