It seems #2 the clear favorite amongst respondents so far. There are a few elements that need tweaking still. If any one with factory connections would like to get them involved, it is fine by me. I am just the designer; as I said earlier, I will provide the free artwork and if needed help to facilitate the production, the rest is up to others to help out with (funding, distribution, etc.).
As for a register; I remember one that was started on the forums and it is probably on page 25 by now. Since the badges would be limited sales to people of this forum, I was thinking that each person would receive their blank badge and take it to a place with their info to get it engraved themselves.
As for metal color; copper, bronze or brass will look best with the gloss black enamel as the silver metals reflect black better making the gloss black enamel parts harder to read. In the end we will have to settle on one color to keep costs down.
