Also the distance between cam cover and wing isn't the same...

I’ve just finished fitting the near side strut, delayed by flat batteries in the drill. A perfect fit, no issues. It looks exactly as in your photo.

How can that be?

I must say I was confused and then thought to measure the gap between the top of the cam cover at its closest point to the wing, and the inner edge of the wing.

Nearside: 24mm
Offside: 16mm.

Now I was scratching my head!! Surely the engine is mounted centrally?

Careful examination shows that the cam covers are not handed, but exactly the same and the shape on the RHS, looking from the driver’s seat, bulges more than on the LHS. So there is less of a gap on the offside than the near side!

Cain is working on the solution, which will apply to Roadsters and may apply to +8s as well.

Every time I work on Aldermog I find out something new and sometimes strange...!!
