Generally, whatever you do do not roll backwards on ramps or steep inclines or reverse up steep drives as this can fracture exhaust joints or welds as the tailpipe digs in.

As for Security I know it is is good on Mull, they caught the thief in 1952.

And for the midges, as Graham says Avon Skin So Soft works, if you don't mind smelling like an old lady.
