My only concern at the moment is the petrol filler lockable cap which is incredible difficult to get on and lock and doesn't seem to be sitting low enough in the hole meaning the spring loaded cap is difficult to close (and subsequently open). I'm terrified of either not being able to open it or breaking the key in trying to close it.

It could be the plastic has swollen due to the Ethanol content of the fuel you are using. This has been a problem with some motorcycles, KTM for one, I have suffered the problem with my bike. The answer is to gently reduce the diameter of the lock/plug with fine glass paper or wire wool and use the higher octane fuel as this has a much lower content of Ethanol.
