My New Morgan Roadster:

I managed to eventually complete my order for a new Morgan Roadster a few weeks ago. The big decision that been holding me up was deciding on the colour.
Too big a choice!

I was planning to have it in a dark, but bright, blue. However, I had difficulty in deciding which blue to go for, and then finding out what the specific colours were called. Looking at photos on the internet was so misleading as the photos had sometimes been adjusted before they were uploaded. Many pictures purporting to be the same colour looked so completely different from each other. So I decided I must see the different coloured paintwork in the flesh, and went to the recent open day at Allon White’s. This was interesting, as some colours looked superb in the bright sunlight (when it occasionally appeared!) but looked dark and almost black when the sun went in.

So, I did a complete u-turn, and went back to my very original colour choice of a red car, as my first Morgan bought in 1970 was in a deep red - see my avatar and pic below. (Don't laugh, that's what I looked like when I was 20 in the 70's shades).

I managed to see an Aero 8 in a red colour that really appealed to me, and in my opinion, it looked great in the direct sunlight and also in the shade, although the two appeared quite different. So I decided on this as the colour, which is called “metallic Garnet Red”.

I just hope that it looks as good on my new Roadster as it does on the Aero 8.
