Colin, I struggled for a week but an 84 year old retired mechanic managed it easily on my car..
Firstly apply handbrake and put car in gear.
Secondly have a second helper applying the footbrake.
Thirdly the important bit, is obtain a good heavy short hammer, the heavier the head the better. I have a short sledge. Place the wheel brace on the wheel required, put the lever bar through the holes and as best possible, position the bar as horizontal as you can get it, then observe the rotation for OFF. Now strike the bar about 20cm from the brace head, as you get more confident you can make bigger strikes. The importance of having the car solidly braked with your assistant firmly on the foot brake is important, any give will be energy wasted. [/u]The shock never fails[u].
An 84 year old had all my wheels off in minutes.
The next IMPORTANT bit is putting them back on, it is vital to get the [/u]grub screw fully home[u]they can look secure but may have not gone fully into the recess, believe me the wheel will come off when you are driving if that grub screw is not in place properly.
