Assisted dying has being going on for years with little publicity or public backlash. When my mother died of cancer in 1996 and my wife in 2006, they were both assisted by very kindly doctors, in full discussion with the family and in my wife's case she had already come to an agreement with her palliative care doctor. It gave me great peace of mind in both cases that neither suffered in their final hours.
