I bought the protective film from 3M and spent many happy hours doing myself. Cost was about £60. It takes a lot of patience, so I suspect the extra cost is really the labour.

+1 thumbs it's tricky to fit, preparation is the key, creating a template and then cutting it out with a sharp modellers knife, then sliding into place using slight soapy water on the panel, and then getting bubbles out with a plastics card wrapped in a slippery material. It takes patience and time. There are companies out there that will do it but at a cost.
