Hello one and all. I am George, and a new member here.
I am a car enthusiast, with a lifelong passion for.....Porsches. Currently own a 911 cab and a 964 C4, both getting full time use, in summer and winter respectively.
Why Morgan, would you ask? Well, there are several reasons:
-Can't drive fast anymore. Not that there is no enjoyment in driving the cab at a leisurely pace, but these 911s love speed, and the enjoyment is most felt when the fear of police gets very real.
-Love mechanical work. I have been restoring/maintaining my 911s for over 20 years now (only way I can afford them), and it is my method of stress relief.
-Want to experience driving in a more seminal sense, where you put a coat if you're cold, where some drops won't melt you (or the car), where you have to actually have a strategy for a fast drive beyond the mere "push the gas for more speed" thought. Living in a mountainous area makes for challenging drives. It is easy to go fast uphill with 260+ HP, but it takes more talent with 70 or so horsies...
-LOVE the morgan looks, and the mechanicals are approachable for a weekend mechanic like myself. Can't wait to drive up the A82 to Fort Augustus.
So. With that, what do I want, what do I look for? I am here to read and learn, to fine hone my criteria for a Morgan I can buy, use and enjoy. On top of my wishlist today would be a zero-option 4/4 from the 60's in the simplest form.
You will see that I won't take much bandwidth, having little knowledge, but you can also rest assured I will soak up as much as I can, and will let all know if/when I get my own Morgan.
