Thanks all, I did have a chat with the guys at Omex direct who pretty much echoed the views here and also suggested going to Northampton motorsport.
Looking back into the invoice history the Omex ECU was changed at some point so I suspect that perhaps the original mapping was lost and it has inherited a "standard" setting which doesn't suit the fast road modifications.
so a trip to Northampton beckons.
