for what it's worth, i had trouble with starting my plus 8 3.9 (1997) but I was using same starting technique as my 2003 BMW 325ci (get in, turn key, go). for the morgan: turn key to first position and wait, listen for fuel pump to do its thing. then pump accelerator once or twice, then, with clutch in, and accelerator half way down, turn key fully and hold for a brief second as engine starts, then foot off the gas. it settles down to even running using this procedure, even in cold weather.
