Finally saw a Slingshot in person this weekend while out on a ride with my wife in the Moggie.
My first impression......... It's huge!........ When compared to the 3w
I was surprised by the overall size. It's is as wide as any small car out there. It's as big as a Miata.
When it first pulled up in the parking lot of the bar/ restaurant (Cook's Corner) we were at, a crowd formed around it for a few minutes. As the crowd slowly shrank we could see the car. It was tall and stood above all the bikes parked around it.
Cook's is an old Biker bar about 15 miles into the canyons near where we live. It's a lazy bendy road that's a pleasure to ride. On any given weekend several hundred bikes fill the parking lot. Mostly Harley's with a sprinkling of everything else.
Back to the slingshot........
It looks well built and good attention to detail and coming from Polaris I'm sure it drives nice
The styling is love it or hate it! I'm not a fan. Too many angles, facets and openings. The proportions are not balanced either. Heavy front end opposed by a skinny tall rear.
I would describe the Polaris as a three wheeled car vs the 3W as a three wheeled motorcycle.
The 3W is small and tight, you squeeze in and become part of the machine much like when you throw a leg over the saddle of a motorcycle and become part of the framework.
The Slingshot looks more car like in its interior, more like and Arial Atom.
In closing, I don't really think they are in the same league. Different animals that will attract different people. Kind of like Harley's, it's a motorcycle that doesn't excell in any one area but the riding experience is like no other bike.
