Did this to my +8 last year as a diy. Instead of cutting the running board I angled the 90 degree bend so it pointed down a bit so as to just clear under the edge of the board. I then marked it with a vertical circumference line and cut the pipe. As the cut end is vertical it looks like the pipe is coming out horizontally. A benefit of the arrangement is that the gases come out with a downward direction so they don't burn bystander ankles, the mog also now sweeps the garage as I reverse out!
