I'd go back to the seller and demand my money back, the car is not as described and is not fit for purpose.
I'd suggest that would get very nasty quite quickly as a plate problem is not the sort of thing the sale of goods act covers, and there is no suggestion of any illegality on behalf of anyone involved with the real car.
I could easily believe the garage didn't know of the cloning.
