I've just bought some new wooden frame parts for my 1981 4/4, as the originals were rotten. I've taken the car to bits to respray it and am mending some bits and pieces I've discovered. Anyway, I now have the new ash parts (all around the door frame both sides, from the dash board to the hood frame) and the wood doesn't seem to be treated. I clearly want this wood to last as long as possible so what does anyone recommend I treat it with? Someone mentioned linseed oil. Any suggestions?
