On my S3 I have had fluid in much the same place, but although it takes an age to evaporate so makes you think it's oil at first, it's been either water from the wash bottle reservoir or coolant from the joints with the radiator. I think there's a weak connection between the reservoir and the headlamp washers.
I get the fluid on the nearside just in front of the front wheel and on the steering rack dripping down. It's been fixed a few times but does tend to recur on the (my) S3 although the leak is always slow.
Pardon mentioning it as an S3 manual is a good bit different but I was a bit worried and it turned out to be a much more minor problem than I'd thought! Hoping yours is too!!
