A friend of mine, Paris resident, has sold his car some years ago as he sees no point struggling through Paris traffic and not getting a parking place than. Taxis are available but also slow in the crowded traffic. He became a real believer in public transport. For local flexibility he owns a small scooter.
Outside trips are done by railway, plane or rent-a-car.

And Paris has the famous Honda GoldWing taxis - which I have not used yet.

I do understand that Paris wants to limit the number of cars in the city.
