Dear all, as a medical man, may I suggest the following:
AQM is a recent amputee, who knows for what reason? Tumour? Diabetes? Arterial embolus? Almost nobody who has been in good health before accepts such a thing without mental anguish. He is Danish, not English. We all remember the wounded officer in Monty Python who lost his leg to a "tiger in africa", contentedly puffing his pipe and asking "will it grow out again?" Patients are seldom found to be that calm and collected. I think out of courtesy to AQM and his grievous loss, why not show a collective sign of "Yes, we understand it hurts", and allow AQM both a little leeway AND the feeling that he is NOT thrown away from our community just because of this thread. With as few disparaging comments as possible? I seriously think this is the proper time for collective KINDNESS, not vindictiveness, sarcasm,anger or boredom. I fully understand why people may react to this thread but I dearly do feel that the feelings shown AQM are very strong and not positive. I would hate to see this thread end in a less than happy note and I am QUITE sure that the noble members of this forum are large enough to realize that some members, sometimes, need an extra hug. Irrespectively if they have behaved impeccably or not.
AQM, You have my deepest sympathy for Your loss. I understand that life may be very unfair. We here are in general good souls. We love our niggly old mistresses with all their faults and weaknesses. We love our Morgans too. And I am sure we can extend a bit of love towards You as well.
