The description is slightly less applicable to Morgan than it was 15 or 20 years ago and I do not mean it as a criticism; more a quirky and endearing attribute.
Up until recently when Morgan made virtually everything and malleable castings were machined and parts were made up to a template, the tolerances were not and didn't need to be particularly close. The car is hand built and therefore explains why a bonnet or door cannot be transferred from one Morgan to another without serious fettling or adjustment.
