Not sure if this is true, but I drove a Morgan around France for Mog Mag and we were warned that if you pick up a speeding ticket they clobber you at the toll booth. Never got to find out if it's true but I wouldn't be surprised. Good roads though and very little traffic congestion.
Just so we're clear. In no way will a motorist whose average speed for his motorway journey has exceeded 130km/h be picked up for speeding at the toll booth. The system is not homologated for this.
Toll booths are however a popular place for the french rozzers to pick up speeding motorists, but this will only apply to a speed trap just up the road. It is worth being careful in the approach to péages for this reason, in particular to observe the gradual reduction in speed limit on the approach to the barrier. A UK resident acquaintance of mine on a Ducati 996 who had not really been speeding as such, left his braking to the last moment before the barrier, and hence was clocked at 130km/h in a 50km/h limit.
His licence was taken off him on the spot, plus a big fine, then had to make his own way home & get his bike repatriated.
