When I got my Porsche 356 many years ago off its original owner I noticed the well worn St Christopher medal on the dashboard near the starter button...when asked the owner said he always stroked the medal with his thumb before and after every journey and after 30 years the finish had worn down to the brass...priceless...and do you know what I continue to do this on my new Morgan !!!!!
