A tip given to me by a long time Morgan owner who always had the best chrome wires i have ever seen, was to use neat cheap car wash applied with a paint brush, left a few minutes then rinsed off with the hose and then left to dry before given a buff with a cloth.
The neat car wash has a wax finish so nothing else is required and over time this builds up a protective coating,
I have used this method on my stainless wires for approx 10 years and cleaning the wheels is easy.
