Returning home from work early this evening, I followed a Polo out of the end of the street the pub is on on to the Rue de Paris (the high street). He then stopped and started backing up. I hit the horn, but he backed into me, pushing in the right hand front of my Mog. He said that it was my fault, that I was too close and that I hadn't stopped at the stop sign (all untrue). I asked him if had seen all of these things and was such an expert on my movements and how close I was to him, why had he decided to reverse into me ?
We exchanged details, although he was reluctant, saying that he thought the damage was minimal. I pointed out to him that front of the right hand wing is pushed in at least 2 inches and that the repair might in fact prove to be quite pricey. He then said that he would just say that I had run into the back of him.
I immediately popped back round to the shops opposite the junction and found at least 4 witnesses prepared to back up my version of events.
Should I tell him straight away that I have secured several witnesses, or should I give him the rope to let him hang himself by telling his lies first?
I'll post a few photos of the damage tomorrow.
