The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in 2012 in Sydney Australia, inspired by a photo of Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit. It was decided a themed ride would be a great way to combat the often-negative stereotype of men on motorcycles, whilst connecting niche motorcycle communities together ...with gentlefolk riding their cafe’ racer, scrambler, tracker, bobber, classic vintage, classic scooter, classic chopper, sidecar, brat style, modern classic and undefinable motorcycles.

John it's great news that you'd recovered well.
Unfortunately as you have stated above this is not an event for all as the event was founded on a niche style of bike.
Many people unfamiliar with the logistics involved in running such a large scale motoring event are frustrated, we understand and accept that.
Our hosts are volunteers, people that are dealing with up to 600 riders throughout city streets, ensuring that the general public and it's riders are safe. If this was an open event and the numbers on each ride grew three or four fold it will undoubtedly be shut down on a global scale by authorities, especially if somebody were to be seriously injured.
We are thinking longterm here by maintaining the niche look and feel that we as organisers choose it to be. We will be able to keep the event running for many more years due to this philosophy. The longer the event sustains itself, the more funds we will raise for prostate cancer research.

All of the imagery surrounding this event including the style guides upon the website have always been the same, it has always focused on cafe' racers, classics, bobbers and undefinable bikes.
