Thanks for that Alan , my primary school was located about a mile from the end of the runway at Woodford and directly in line with it . We used to watch the vulcans takeoff often in pairs and pass ovehead still at a very low level with black smoke from all eight engines on full power as they climbed out , the whole village would shake yet no one ever complained .
Those were great memories , so sad that its not to be flown again .
