The thing is, these rare cars are best left reasonably standard - because mods can damage values, unless made reversible. There was a special bodied Alvis in C&SC or CC Mag a few issues ago - Graber I think, and it was superb - a real looker.
But I have a soft spot for the Lagonda Rapide (4 door saloon). I was taken Christmas shopping to Sheffield pre 1960 by a friend of the family in a Rapide. When we stopped in the city centre, a crowd of people surrounded the car...... It left a lasting impression, and when they crop up for sale I look wistfully - but it's not really viable unless I found a garage with better access (or moved house). Anyway, that Alvis is high on my virtual list just now.
