I decided to put the hood up when I got home, but it was not possible: the (Marina door handle?) release did not function, even though I followed the advice in the excellent Newtown Motors video and pressed down on the back of the hood.
Thinking about this since then, I recall that at one point on the autoroute, I went over one of those bridge joints which turned out to be far more severe than expected. The car took off perhaps and anyway it then settled with a violent bump from the rear. Up to that point I had been thinking that motorway ride quality was much like that in a normal car...
It seems likely that this vertical impact must have dislodged the Heath-Robinson hood release mechanism. Has anyone else experienced this kind of event? Presumably, rectification requires a considerable amount of disassembly. I am wondering how long it will take my dealer's agent to do that...
