You don't need power steering - full stop. Is my opinion.
The power assistance on a Discovery I had failed. After doing the checks from a dealer to make sure it was safe to drive, I then drove it without assistance to their premises. Sure it was heavy to get out of my drive, but rally car I'd driven was heavier. And really, the Discovery was better unassisted on motorways etc.
The two speed three wheeler I have is 270° lock to lock (ie 3/4 of turn). Earlier cars are half that as they have no reduction box in the steering.
