That's certainly Plan B....I don't think it would have any deleterious effect, though how the insurance company might view it is unclear to me.
I'm just amazed that the factory appear to have stopped making steel wings - it doesn't augur well for the (presumably not insubstantial) number of cars that might need steel wings in the future.
