That doesn't look like a diy job to me.. Because of where it is..it'll stick out like a sore thumb if it's not perfect.
If you really think it'll happen again I'd polish it and wait until you move if it's not years off! Then take it to a bodyshop.
Awful thing to happen, even worse is the fact that the idiot gets away with it.
