A while back the starter on my 3 Wheeler had begun to “hang” when starting the engine.
A few seconds after the engine was up and running it would disengage and all was normal.
Yesterday when I had stopped to add fuel, the starter would not engage, just a spinning whine sound from the starter, but no starter engagement to turn engine over.
Could hear solenoid trying to engage but no starter action.
Starter would not engage the flywheel.
Battery is good and wiring is good.
I suspect that the pinion gear that engages the flywheel has been damaged and is not engaging or the spring has been dislodged or damaged.
Machine is out for the count until this can be diagnosed and corrected.
Can the starter be removed WITHOUT removing the engine?
Thoughts and comments are much appreciated.
