cycle through the settings while running and check the voltage coming off the engine. If it's below 12 volts while running then the rectifier is toast and you are running off the battery. If it's above 14 volts at speed then it is probably the solenoid.

The starter is visible from the front so I would guess that it is removable. I hope. I could be wrong. This car has thrown me a few curves...


Replaced rectifier a couple of weeks ago with H-D unit, runs 14+ volts now; so I know it is not the rectifier.
I looked at the starter location and it looks like the steering rack is blocking starter removal, but it would be nice to have confirmation as to what is required before tearing into it.
