I was involved in a crash yesterday. Thankfully, I wasn't hurt, it wasn't the Morgan and, in fact, I wasn't in my car at all! I'm struggling to make sense of it. I was aggressively fingered (not like that) by an old woman and the mare that shunted her (not like that). I got out of my car when the coast was apparently clear. By the time I was on the pavement, there was a bang. The blame was given to me because I got out of my car, but: a) the road was clear at the time; b) how could I directly affect the incident if I was on the pavement at the time?
The car I was in is 14 feet long and 6 wide. From the time of closing my door, I would have briskly walked at least 10 feet before the collision. That's 3 yards. To cover 3 yards at walking pace takes 3 seconds. So the incident happened 3 seconds after I closed the door. I wonder, when attributing blame, should it have come to a police investigation, what temporal proximity must there be between two events to establish causality between them? I will attach three sequential diagrams, though the third is inaccurate. I now remember stepping onto the pavement before the accident, as i turned around as soon as I heard the noise.
