I have to say that I too applaud Oakmere
And really I feel that the donation amount to The Royal Legion was none of our business and feel a little embarrassed as the instigator of this thread, that some posts have turned into an interrogation of worthiness of their motives
The size of the donation was really the interest and discretion of Oakmere, The Legion and the interest of the purchaser of the car
My asking for opinion on the cars was more about the aesthetics, details and specification not on the charitable nature of the project
As an MD of an SME, I sanction charitable donations on behalf of my shareholders and will never discuss the amounts outside of the business as it is between the company stakeholders and the organisation and any amount would be meaningless anyway as it wouldn't take into consideration time and support, services rendered and gift donations in the way of auction prizes etc
I believe every profit making organisation has a social responsibly and whether it's time or money to help those organisations that struggle for government funding but help people who we come into contact with through life, it's a matter of descretion
But it's a jolly good job that companies do this sort of thing and I feel Oakmere didn't have to disclose to us here on the forum the exact amount
