1999 was a vintage year for +8s , an excellent choice.
When I wanted a bit more performance I wondered long and hard about going down the 4.6 short engine route, but in the end went for a few mods on my current 3.9 engine. I can pull 5th gear at about 1,500 rom , so you must be able to pull from tickover. Mind you I suppose even the torque of the modified +8 pales into insignificance compared to your other V8!
It's actually a '96. The block was replaced when the whole lot went bang, so a bit of a no-brainer at the time.

I believe it dyno'd at 275bhp, and that was before the LibraMotive exhaust was put on. So pretty strong power for a Rover V8.
