I guess it's a personal decision, and things like mods and reliability come into it, but there's the part of knowing and getting exactly what you want without compromise that might play part, especially in a purchase like this one that is just so emotional. I wouldn't get a used one even with the mods...and frankly, even though this might sound extreme, I wouldn't even buy a new one in stock unless it was to my exact specs and color. This is a very emotional decision, it's not a real car...you're buying an experience...so you should consider what parts of that are most important to you. For me, it's an easy one.
As an FYI/FWIW...there's this brand new Sport Tan one with dark green interior available right now, no waits..and the ask is a bit more than the one I Spec'd....even though it doesn't have the custom color I want. I just don't see the sense to that. But you might be different.
