I drove Audis for a number of years too. In those days it was the BMWs to watch out for. Perhaps the Audi has become the make of choice for company cars?
In Australia it was always the Volvo drivers you had to watch out for. Volvo spent a huge amount on publicity that stressed the safety features of the car and just how well protected you were in the case of a crash. At that time they were also heavy and not very powerful for the Australian market so nobody who wanted a car with a bit of performance and handling would ever buy one. The end result was that they were predominantly owned by people who knew they were terrible drivers and felt unsafe on the road.
