Gordon, I have a Simmond hood on a 97 car. I think the same problem exists that the clamps for the hood get in the way of the folding screen side brackets. So they need cutting back & a new top hole drilling.
I bought a Hearts of England kit after talking to Simmonds & cut down the brackets drilling new holes as needed using the old brackets as a template. It was very easy with an agle grinder & a black & decker.
I guess your heater wires would need a disconnecting plug of some kind.
I did post how I did it & some photos so it should be on the site.
I live near Gt Missenden in Bucks if you want to meet up to look at what I did.
