I have used my Garmin standard suction cup on the glove compartment lid for a couple of years with no problems. Mind you the finish to my dash is just like glass. I have tried a bean bag mount on the tunnel but it is difficult to see if it placed where there is no reflection. I advise you spend a couple of quid for a sunshade they do work.
