I am thinking of buying the 2016 MTW ...
I would recommend reading Peter Dron's book as a start. I got my M3W in Oct15 and am planning a trip to Spain in Jun16. I'll get recovery cover (and take the obligatory spare bulbs etc and maybe a front wheel inner tube).
If you are worried - consider renting one for the trip? Maybe hire a second hand one you like with an option to buy?
