I fitted an organ pedal (bought from Rutters) because on long drives, and depending on what shoes I was wearing, I found that the pressure from the roller became slightly uncomfortable. Fitted the organ pedal and find it more comfortable and easier to move my right foot around. I think it looks good as well, hadn't thought of painting it Dave but now you've sown that seed...
As far as the rattle is concerened I probably don't notice it above all of the other rattles and creaks
