My car is currently ' broken ' shocked2

Steve,

I just replaced the ignition on my 1988 4/4 seater, and the worst thing that happened was when I removed the dash, It got stuck coming over the wiper switch and as I tugged it over it came free to fast and all the wires behind got pulled of their relevant switches, dials etc. As I am not an auto sparky, this was a nightmare as the wiring loom did not reflect code or diagram. $600 and a mobile sparky later it is all fixed.

Be careful cutting the old switch off, as some of the wires are very close and even with a dremmel it was difficult.

Good luck
