I have a '70 4/4 with the Kent crossflow engine. What type and manufacturer of transmission would have gone into this car? The reason for asking is that the bell shaped housing that the shift lever goes through is worn in the opening causing very sloppy shifts. I'd like to replace it so I can have a bit more precise feel when shifting. It appears as if the hole should be about 1/2 inch in diameter but is now about 3/4 inch in size. I also think that this is part of the lever action of the shifter and acts as a fulcrum point to engage various gears. I guess the real question is asked to find out if the part is available from someone or some company. I suppose I could weld it up but it slides inside of the keeper dome and I'm afraid I would warp it with the heat.
